A cortosis shot was a slugthrower projectile made out of cortosis and used by Cad Bane in 21 BBY to capture Jedi Master Bolla Ropal. This bullet, upon striking a lightsaber blade, would cause the blade to short out, giving the shooter an advantage over the lightsaber wielder. However, Bane stated that the bullets were expensive and hard on the slugthrower's barrel.
