A cutting block was used by the Yuuzhan Vong to sacrifice someone's body part to their gods. Warmaster Tsavong Lah was going to sacrifice his left hand in preparation for the Battle of Borleia, but decided instead to sacrifice his whole arm, and replaced it with a radank claw.
