An electromagnetic pulse (or EMP for short) was a short yet powerful burst of electromagnetic energy. EMP devices were commonly used to disable electronics and droids. Electromagnetic pulses were used extensively as weapons by clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars against the Separatist Droid Army. Electromagnetic pulse grenades were one such example. The LOM-series protocol droid bounty hunter 4-LOM also wielded a DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle that could fire electromagnetic pulses. The bo-rifles of the Lasan High Honor Guard featured electromagnetic pulse-generator tips. Ion cannons and other ion based weapons like ion blasters.
