Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

Firegems (also known as fire-gems) were extremely radiant gemstones that had a high price on the black market. Thus, they were an excellent opportunity for profit for many smugglers.

Buyers of firegems included the Corellian smugglers Dubrak Qennto, Jorj Car'das, and Maris Ferasi, who owned the smuggling ship Bargain Hunter. While smuggling firegems on the fringes of the Outer Rim, they were chased by Progga the Hutt's ship. However, a frontier picket force of the Chiss Ascendancy's Expansionary Fleet under Commander Mitth'raw'nuruodo intercepted them and destroyed Progga's ship, before impounding the Hunter and detaining its crew.
