Flash blind

Flash blind was a temporary condition suffered when individuals were exposed to bright lights, such as explosions, that overloaded their visual cortex. Starfighters employed materials such as phototropic transparisteel in cockpit canopies which automatically darkened in the presence of bright lights to avoid pilots being rendered flash blind.
