Flotilla

A flotilla was a naval term that denoted a group of small or medium-sized capital ships, mostly frigates or destroyers with corvette and starfighter support. Flotillas were usually commanded by an admiral, who administered the fighting from a specifically designated flagship. The term was often used interchangeably with "fleet," and indeed some flotillas were so large that they were fleets unto themselves.
