The G was a unit of measurement of acceleration. For example, the missiles shot by an HMP droid gunship could experience an acceleration of over 10,000 G when making a turn. The maximum acceleration of a TIE Advanced x1 was of 4,150 G, while that of a TIE/d "Defender" Multi-Role Starfighter was of 4,280 G.
