Herpetology

Herpetology was a scientific field that included the study of snakes. During the Imperial Period, Doctor Relan Smiff was awarded with the Herpetology Award by the Galactic Science Foundation. Sometime between around 0 ABY and 1 ABY, Smiff began to study and report that the Mid Rim planet Naboo's native fanned rawls had begun to grow larger. He reported sightings of giant fanned rawls in at least two locations and correctly believed that the snakes used the fans situated on the sides of their bodies to assist with swimming.
