A hypo was a medical tool that was used to administer drugs such as truth serums and sedatives. A hypo was used to administer a strong sedative to the Jedi Lorana Jinzler after she was kidnapped by Brolfi terrorists.
The Galactic Empire also used a hypo, mounted on an IT-O interrogation droid, to administer the truth serum Bavo Six during the interrogation of Princess Leia Organa on the first Death Star, in an attempt to gain the location of the hidden Rebel base from her.
