An improvised explosive device, or IED, was, as its name suggested, an explosive fashioned from more everyday materials not purposely designed as ordnance, including but not limited to small packs of mining explosive or "explosive barrels." These were used by Omega Squad on its mission to Qiilura, and many were encountered by Delta Squad during their mission to the Prosecutor.
