Kesium gas was a blaster gas that was mined on the planet Jakku and was one of the planet's only few natural resources. It was also highly inflammable. When the traveler Corwin Ballast asked what work was available on Jakku, the bartender Ergel suggested mining kesium gas that was found near Cratertown. Leesa Chaffni's father Lubos worked in the local kesium mines near Cratertown, but around the time of the First Order-Resistance War hurt his leg in an accident. Leesa Chaffni found that the smell of kesium gas was deeply disgusting.
