Launch Control was an operation that maintained launching procedures.

Theed Hangar had a Launch Control, which remotely controlled vessels before launch through their astromech units. After pilots of the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps surrendered control of their ships to Launch Control, the R2s taxied them to the opening, and launched them. Launch Control led the ships until their target destination, before relinquishing control back to the pilots.

There was a Launch Control room aboard the Death Star. It was destroyed during the Battle of Yavin.
