A Level One Emergency Alert was an emergency broadcast issued by the Galactic Republic's Interstellar Travel Council when a planet posed an incredibly high threat to the galaxy. Around the time of the Cold War with the Sith Empire, the Council was forced to issue an alert when the planet Tatooine became the origin of a rakghoul outbreak that spread to multiple Republic, Imperial, and neutral systems.
