List of unlicensed sources

The following is a list of officially recognized publications which included unlicensed Star Wars material or Star Wars material whose licensing was unable to be confirmed by representatives of Lucasfilm. It does not include fanzines unless an explicit connection to Lucasfilm is established by the source being referenced by an official Lucasfilm publication.

As of 2006, Leland Chee, had been unable to confirm with certainty whether some publications were officially affiliated with Lucasfilm, nor able to confirm the specifics of some Lucas Licensing arrangements prior to his tenure at Lucasfilm and the establishment of the Holocron continuity database.

As a result, some sources listed below have since been established as having some form of licensing arrangement with Lucasfilm at their time of publication, while others have been identified as never being officially licensed though later directly influencing, or being referenced by, official Lucasfilm publications. Some sources' licensing authenticity remains undetermined.

In 2009, The Essential Atlas authors determined that locations mentioned in sources such as these, published prior to The Essential Atlas and written by authors who had previously contributed to official Star Wars products, were to be included in the Holocron continuity database. Jason Fry, one of the authors of the Atlas, stated that "inclusion shouldn't be taken as a statement of canonicity for anything except the geography", and later stated that the unlicensed material was not considered canon beyond the planets and systems referenced in the Atlas.

Articles based wholly on any of the below sources should be marked with the Unlicensed tag. Articles with sections sourced from those listed below, based on unlicensed sources, or undetermined licensing, should have page sections denoted with unlicensedstart and unlicensedend.
