Luke Skywalker and the Dragons of Tatooine was a children’s holothriller produced prior to 5 ABY, capitalizing on the sudden galactic fame of Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker following the Battle of Yavin. Marketed as an action-adventure holo aimed primarily at young audiences, it was part of a broader wave of sensationalized holodramas depicting the heroes of the Galactic Civil War in exaggerated and often historically inaccurate scenarios.

The holothriller dramatized Luke Skywalker’s entirely fictional exploits against krayt dragons on Tatooine and was secretly produced by Cronal, the former Director of Imperial Intelligence, as part of an elaborate effort to recast Skywalker as an Imperial-aligned hero. The title page featured an illustration depicting Skywalker wielding a lightsaber while riding a bantha into battle against a fire-breathing krayt dragon.

Han Solo later purchased a copy of the holothriller—along with several similar productions of the period—to pass the time while Leia Organa was engaged in diplomatic negotiations. Solo regarded the holothriller as low-quality but ultimately harmless. Skywalker, however, objected strongly to its portrayal, noting that he had never engaged krayt dragons in such a manner and that krayt dragons do not breathe fire.
