Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

Macromolecular regeneration was a medical procedure in use by the time of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In 20 BBY, the Republic's Major N'do Maetrecis fell ill with an unknown disease contracted from the planet Drongar's swamps after receiving a heart transplant from Republic Mobile Surgical Unit staff. Medical personnel attempted macromolecular regeneration and other techniques to cure him, though each ultimately failed and the man's condition worsened. Maetrecis ultimately only recovered after Doctor Zan Yant began treating him with illegal dosages of the healing plant bota, which the surgeon Jos Vondar scolded his colleague for.
