The midsummer livestock fair was an event that took place once a year in the city of Theed, the capital of Naboo's human citizens. When Padmé Amidala attended a reception for the new senators of the Galactic Republic, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine started introducing her to several colleagues, and she mentally compared her situation with that of animals exhibited at the midsummer fair.
