Moisture farmer

Canon Legends version → Linked from 220 articles

A moisture farmer or vapor farmer was an individual who operated a moisture farm, using moisture vaporators to harvest excess humidity in the atmosphere. On sun-scorched worlds like Tatooine, many settlers in the desert were moisture farmers. Among them were the Lars family, who maintained vaporators around their homestead.

Cliegg Lars and Shmi Skywalker married to settle at their home as moisture farmers. They were succeeded by Owen and Beru Whitesun Lars, and the couple raised their nephew, Luke Skywalker, also as a moisture farmer.

Moisture farmers built their homesteads to be partially buried in the ground, as this protected them from wind and heat and kept the residence cool. Many farmers would use flyhorn lizards to indicate their humidity yield.
