Plasticene thermite was a type of substance that could be shipped and was considered to be contraband during the Imperial Era. It shared its name with Plasticene, a substance used in starships, and thermite, a substance used to make the shell casing.

In 3 ABY, the scoundrel Kay Vess accepted an underworld contract for the Pyke Syndicate to smuggle a shipment of plasticene thermite from Myrra Spaceport on the jungle planet Akiva to the Pyke's crystal mine in the Stormhollow region of Akiva.
