Pliers were a tool commonly found in tool kits. Ak-Buz, the commander of Jabba the Hutt's sail barge, used a pair of long-nosed nonconductive machinist's pliers to steal a beignet that the chef Porcellus had prepared from their master. The pliers were used to get past an small electric fence that was protecting the beignet.
