Remote processor

A remote processor was a decentralized droid brain that was not equipped on the droid itself. In these cases, the droids were more like drones and did not have independent thought. The remote processor was equipped with an integrated transmitter that beamed signals to a remote receiver installed on the droid itself.

Depending on the model, remote processors could have operational ranges from five kilometers for a cheap model to five thousand kilometers for high-end units. One major drawback to the system was that droids took a while to respond to the commands sent by the remote processor.
