Salar was a fish that was eaten regularly by Bothans. It was fast-growing and had a bland taste. It was originally only found on Bothawui, but thanks to Aquatic Integrated Systems was grown on the Bothan colony of Kothlis.
By the Galactic Civil War, there had been a developing market for the fish in other worlds.
