A sheath was a piece of clothing, often strapped to the waist, which held a knife when not in use. The Storm-hair warlord Nuso Esva carried a sheath that contained his blaster. In 8 ABY, he brought his blaster out of its sheath and pointed it at the Quesoth Queen of the Red on the planet Quethold.
