Skellig Michael

Canon

Skellig Michael, named Sceilg Mhichíl in Irish, is an island of the Republic of Ireland that featured as the Temple Island of the planet Ahch-To in the sequel trilogy. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a nearby smaller island is named Little Skellig. Skellig Michael's population of seabirds, including puffins, inspired the creation of the porg creature, and its geographical and historical features, including a largely intact early medieval Christian monastery, were prominently featured throughout Rian Johnson's 2017 film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi.

The island first appeared in Star Wars at the end of the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams, and, after The Last Jedi, briefly appears in Abrams' 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.
