Sound dampener
Canon Legends version → Linked from 2 articles
A sound dampener was a device employing nearly instantaneous sound recognition to emit sound-canceling waves, softening or eliminating noises in the immediate vicinity. While the sound dampener could not silence a noise as loud as a blaster bolt, it could render sounds like footsteps nearly inaudible. Using technology initially designed to reduce the constant background noise of a bustling city, Veslox Corporation ingeniously realized that the effect could be localized. Their sound dampener quickly became a bestseller in the criminal underworld. It was small enough to be worn on a belt or mounted on a backpack and cost 600 credits.
