Spice ampoules were containers which were intended for the transport of spice. The ampoules, made of surgical plastic, were surgically implanted under the skin of drug couriers in order to smuggle the spice along unnoticed by security forces. Suitably sealed, one container would last for at least 12 hours. At the time of the Cold War, this method was popular amongst the Black Sun underworld syndicate on Coruscant.
