Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

Stink was the foul-smelling secretion produced by dead slashrats, warning other slashrats away. It was used by Doctor Anki Pace's xenoarchaeological team to keep safe from slashrat attacks during their expedition to Bimmiel; they were the ones who dubbed it "stink".
