Sy Bisti was a trade language used in the Outer Rim and in parts of the Unknown Regions. Though not as common as Bocce, it frequently served as a common language between the denizens of worlds bordering Wild Space and the Unknown Regions, and species from those regions whom had not learned Basic. The Chiss knew this language prior to their first contact with citizens of the Galactic Republic. Individuals living on Taris often knew Sy Bisti, and it was frequently a second language among the Killiks and Vaagari.
