Symbiosis was a process involving multiple life forms. According to the Jedi Order, midi-chlorians were symbionts, whereas Darth Plagueis thought of them interlopers. Symbiotes bred by the Swonks also lived on Khaërn VII A mystical and symbiotic bond existed between the Tusken Raiders and the Banthas that lived on Tatooine.
