By the time of the Cold War, a proxy conflict between the Sith Empire and Galactic Republic, a consortium of alien merchants were offering ancient devices at an auction. Eventually, someone was sent to investigate the artifacts and discovered that among the auction's items there were religious relics of long-dead cultures.
