Unidentified Stennes Shifter–Jedi conflict

Circa 5000 BBY, the Jedi Order and the Stennes Shifter species faced each other in a conflict. As Jedi Knights killed them off, the population of the Stennes Shifters fell precipitously such that, by the time of the Galactic Civil War, the species had numbers as small as a few hundred and no more than several million. The conflict also convinced the Jedi that the Shifters were a threat to be reckoned with.
