Weather control

Canon Legends version → Linked from 7 articles

Weather control was a system that manipulated planet's weather. It involved the gathering and clearing of clouds, including via satellites, creating a phenomenon that cleansed skyscrapers, as well as the control and regulation of other natural phenomenons, such as rain and storms. Prior to the invention of modern weather controls by 228 BBY in the High Republic Era, some Mon Calamari would, on rare occasions of historic drought, go into suspended animation in the mud of exposed seabeds. A weather control system operated on Coruscant, the cosmopolitan Core World that the Galactic Empire claimed as its capital planet. It was damaged during the Battle of Coruscant, resulting in long stretches of precipitation that most of the city's buildings weren't built to handle, and unseasonably cold weather including snow, early in the Imperial Era. As recounted by the Imperial officer Wilhuff Tarkin, weather control was amongst other luxuries of Coruscant that his Outer Rim homeworld of Eriadu lacked.
