The z was a unit of measurement utilized to express frequency rates. In Rebel Alliance General Airen Cracken's datafile Cracken's Rebel Field Guide, several entries on jury-rigged equipment gave measurements in z, including the ratings of wires and cables used in the creation of the lectroticker anti-security device and in a modification to increase the speed of some airspeeders. The datafile's entry on fitting a blaster with a hair trigger also called for a direct change to the frequency rate of the weapon's impulse slot in a range specified in units of z.
