Uffel Research and Development was a facility in the city X2-4 on the moon Uffel, which was used by the world's droid community to pioneer the development of new models of droid. During the Clone Wars, the Thaereian military invaded the moon and the threat the military posed to the droids led to the activation of protocols within the programing of some of the Uffel droids that rendered them hostile to organic beings. A number of the affected droids subsequently barricaded themselves inside Uffel Research and Development.
