Watto's junkshop

Watto's junkshop, also known as Watto's junkyard, was a junk dealership owned by the Toydarian Watto on the outskirts of the huge Mos Espa city of Tatooine. His slave, Anakin Skywalker, worked in the shop by repairing salvage for his owner. Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn sought to purchase a T-14 hyperdrive generator at Watto's shop after becoming stranded on the planet, but Watto refused to accept his Republic credit chips. Eventually, Jinn bet on Skywalker winning the Boonta Eve Classic podrace to get the hyperdrive generator, and for the boy's freedom.

By 34 ABY, the shop once owned by Watto in Mos Espa sat in ruins. In that year, Ben—by that point living under the name "Kylo Ren" and reigning as the Supreme Leader of the First Order—traveled to Tatooine with Vaneé, who hoped to show Vader's grandson how the man's past had forged him into a powerful Sith Lord. Teaching Ren of how Skywalker had once been a slave, Vaneé brought Ren to the ruins of Watto's shop; the damage to the site made Ren theorize about and imagine his grandfather returning to the place he had once been enslaved to enact revenge upon Watto, whom he imagined being slain with a Force choke. However, Vaneé confirmed that Vader had not killed Watto as the Sith Lord had other matters to focus on.
