Belsavis was an astronomical object located in the Bozhnee sector's Belsavis system within an intersecting portion of the Outer Rim Territories and the Western Reaches. Situated at the coordinates L-18 on the Standard Galactic Grid, it was connected via hyperspace route to the astronomical object Karfeddion and was located near the Thull's Shroud, a location where the Nihil marauder group operated during the High Republic Era.

During the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire had a penal site at Belsavis. In 5 BBY, the Empire sent a group of newly convicted prisoners on the planet Niamos, including the human Tuck Hybecks, to Belsavis to where they would carry out their sentences.
