Carlac was a peaceful planet Carlac system in the Prefsbelt sector within the Outer Rim Territories and New Territories. It was comprised of cold blue-sand deserts in the lower latitudes and on the equator, snow-covered forests further north with inhospitable mountain ranges in the subpolar regions. During the High Republic Era, it was sparsely inhabited by a Yarkora colony in its southern latitudes and monasteries of Ming Po monks in the northern regions.
During the High Republic Era in 231 BBY, Carlac was the site of a battle of Operation: Counterstrike during the Nihil conflict. Later during the era, the Republic prison transport Palwick transporting Osha Aniseya crash landed in Carlac's northern mountains. During the Clone Wars, A town inhabited by members of the Ming Po culture existed on Carlac, but was burned to the ground by the radical Mandalorian terrorist group Death Watch.
