Greater Galam was a gas giant and the third planet orbiting the star Lan in the Outer Rim's Lan system. It had sixteen moons and was situated within the Hook Nebula. Greater Galam and its star system were discovered by the Galactic Republic around 1300 BBY. The Human mining conglomerate Gaminne Group, Inc. purchased the system's mining rights from the sentient Qieg species native to the system's fourth planet, Lan Barell. By the time the Galactic Republic had been reorganized into the Galactic Empire, the Qieg and a group of Human colonists had eventually formed a stable government, the Human-Qieg Guild, to oversee the entire Lan system, including Greater Galam.
