New Canistel was an inconsequential terrestrial planet located in the Demetras sector's New Canistel system, a part of the Trans-Hydian portion of the Outer Rim Territories. It was the homeworld of the senoti tree, a plant that produced medicinal sap and could also be found on the Forest Moon of Endor.
A popular theory among xenoarborists as to how the senoti made its way to Endor was that one or both of the Canistel AgriStar freighters that had been lost in the Moddell sector had been carrying seeds of the tree and had crashed. Endor's conditions were not ideal for the senoti; New Canistel's alkaline soil allowed the trees to fare far better. By 3 ABY, very few senoti trees remained on Endor.
