The Cometwash was the local name of a blue giant–type star located in the Cometwash system. It was situated in the Back Reach area of the Gordian Reach sector within the Trans-Hydian portion of the Outer Rim Territories. The hyperlane known as the Feena Run connected it to the Korphir and Usta systems.
The Cometwash was situated at the edge of the Roil nebula and was surrounded by swarms of brilliant comets. Spacers commonly reverted to realspace at the Cometwash system to recheck their hyperspace jump calculations, and the sights offered to them by the system made the location famous. Consequently, the star system of the Cometwash was also frequently visited by starliners carrying skygazing tourists.
