The Vandelhelm Cloud was a vast asteroid field that encompassed the Vandelhelm system in the Expansion Region's Epsi Collective. The Vandelhelm Cloud was thick enough that the planet Vandelhelm, though extremely rich in valuable metals, was not discovered until the relatively late date of approximately 3053 BBY. The cloud's asteroids were so thick and unpredictable that it was reputed to take an ace pilot to navigate it. Guildmaster Orrk of Vandelhelm's Metalsmiths Guild mined the Vandelhelm Cloud in 4 ABY in an attempt to prevent the planet's Venerated Ones from returning from Imperial imprisonment, but Alliance of Free Planets hero Han Solo deftly ran the asteroids in his Millennium Falcon to return them home.
