David Tennant (born David John McDonald on April 18, 1971) is a Scottish actor and voice actor. He rose to prominence through appearing in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who as the tenth and fourteenth incarnations of the Doctor. A Star Wars fan since childhood, Tennant was offered the role of the droid Huyang in the fifth season of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars by the series' supervising director and Doctor Who fan Dave Filoni.

Tennant's voice appeared in two episodes which aired in 2012: "A Test of Strength" and "A Necessary Bond." His performance impressed Filoni and Star Wars creator George Lucas, and was also recognized with the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program. Tennant voiced the character again in 2023 for the live-action Disney+ series Ahsoka. As Huyang was portrayed through the use of props, Tennant recorded an early version of the droid's dialogue to allow the other actors to more effectively interact with his character. He returned once more in 2024 for the Disney+ animated series Young Jedi Adventures episode "Nubs's Big Mistake."
