Iain McCaig is an artistic director, concept designer, and filmmaker who worked at JAK Films, a division of Lucasfilm, as a storyboard and concept artist for Episodes I, II, III and VII. Several of the characters he designed include Darth Maul, Queen Amidala, and Sio Bibble. McCaig planned to complete a comic titled "In a Future, Far, Far Away..." for the 2005 graphic novel anthology Star Wars: Visionaries, which would have followed C-3PO and R2-D2 thousands of years after the Battle of Yavin, but was unable to complete it due to his obligations on Revenge of the Sith.
Iain McCaig was brought in to sketch characters for the Star Wars: The High Republic publishing campaign, a series released in 2021.
