Nancy Richardson Fischer is the author of the first three books of the Star Wars: Junior Jedi Knights series, which she wrote under the name Nancy Richardson.

After graduation from Cornell University, a young Nancy Richardson was hired as a staff writer for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which led to her realizing she could potentially make a living as a writer. Her earliest books were sports autobiographies for athletes such as Monica Seles and Apolo Ohno. She credits Lucasfilm hiring her to write a trilogy of middle-grade novels starring Anakin Solo as the first step toward her getting the courage to be able to write her own stories. Although she afterward hit what she calls a "drought," she kept writing and eventually saw her own original novels start to get published.
