Bivalva contemplativa

The Bivalva contemplativa was a species of clam native to the planet Perilix. They exhibited multigenerational narrative semaphores, which caused dispute among the xeno-ethnologists from the planet Coruscant as to whether the Bivalva contemplativa possessed true sentience. Some of the ethnologists argued this characteristic only reflected a form of hive building insufficient to demonstrate true sentience, while others argued it constituted conversation between individuals. By 19 BBY, Bivalva contemplativa had earned the nickname: the "thinking clams of Perilix," despite the argument over their sentience remaining unresolved.
