The borer beetle was a type of insect native to Kashyyyk. Wookiee shields were often stylized with the telltale eyespots found on the backs of these creatures. In 1 ABY a spacer found a specimen of this species on the premises of the Dathomir Imperial Prison. It is unknown how it found its way there.
