A dream shimmer was a species of large, buzzing insect found on the planet Jagomir. The insect's thorax and abdomen were about the size of a small rodent. Dream shimmers were equipped with just one defensive mechanism—a stinger filled with hallucinogenic venom, which they used to either allow themselves to escape from predators or repeatedly attack and stun enemies. The creature's name was derived from its wings, which shimmered in the presence of light.
