Granite slug

Granite slugs were a type of small slug found on the ecumenopolis Coruscant. The slugs were silica parasites capable of consuming mineral matter, excreting acidic saliva as they moved across the surface of buildings and then consuming the resulting slime using their two mouths. This left behind trails of acid on the buildings that created rune-like scars in the duracrete.

During the Clone Wars, the Senate Rotunda Preservation Committee, a committee within the Galactic Republic's Galactic Senate, was responsible for exterminating granite slugs and keeping the Senate Rotunda in the Senate Building architecturally sound.
