Lew'elans were a cultural group of humans native to the aquatic planet Lew'el. They originated from settlers who came to the world a long time ago and named the planet Lew'el, which means "deluge." The people of Lew'el lived by the sea, which provided everything they needed. Razorback whales provided blubber fuel and bone for construction; the triple-speared marlin furnished leather and tools; clams and kiln oysters provided pearls and decorative shells; and a thousand varieties of fish and other forms of seafood the Lew'elans all the sustenance they needed.
