Nightshrikes were an imposing avian predator native to the rainforests of the planet Monastery. Large and bat-like, nightshrikes were nocturnal and mostly preyed on the other beasts of the forests. As such, they were rarely seen during the day—however, in 0 ABY, Rebel leader Luke Skywalker and Order of the Sacred Circle priestess Domina Tagge faced a rare daytime attack from a nightshrike, with Skywalker slaying the beast with his lightsaber.
